My favorite painting is Surikov's "Boyarina Morozova" and the reason for that is because, unlike the usual way I learned about famous paintings as a kid (my parents dragged me to a museum and lectured me about Not Appreciating Culture), that one was introduced to me by a Russian history and arts nerd who excitedly explained the context of the painting and all the levels of nuance and meaning.

"More flies with honey than with vinegar" or something.
