Unfortunately Not a Real Pony

Today a lady on the street followed me around calling me a bitch, a dyke, and faggot, completely unaware that these are things I cheerfully call myself on the regular.

Like, as far as insults go, "slurs I've long ago reclaimed" are pretty useless. What next? Are you going to scream that I'm blond in a derogatory tone? Insult my average height? Imply that I'm deficient because I wear glasses?

Saw someone who identified as an "anti trad" Christian, who was also pro life, anti sex work, anti kink, anti porn, and (reading between the lines) anti queer.

What the hell does "anti trad" even mean?

Y'know, I'm used to having to deal with straight people who think "queer" is a whole personality and that once they've decided a character is the Designated Queer they don't need to worry about fleshing them out beyond that.

But seeing the same mindset among queers is... disturbing.

I don't need a job that I love and find spiritually fulfilling.

I need a job where I'm not afraid to bend over because I know people might make "slut" and "cocksucker" jokes.

"Queerness is defined by suffering" is a take I would like to see ground to dust and never even considered again.

What is with this... I can't even find a way to describe it except Cult of Queer Suffering?

Aside from the reaaaaally thick "no homo" implications that happen when men cover Holding Out for a Hero and change it to be about a woman... that song just doesn't work when it's about a Wonder Woman or whatever. The rhythm gets all messed up.

If it's ~problematic~ to write characters who are marginalized in ways you're not, then straight men can't write any sort of romance stories.

Because either they're writing about a queer man (PROBLEMATIC) or a woman (ALSO PROBLEMATIC).

...now that I think about it, that's probably an intended side effect on antis' part.

Listen, you are OLD ENOUGH to remember the 90s. This was a time when don't ask, don't tell was considered VERY PROGRESSIVE, because the thing it replaced was "if we think you're queer we will kick you out immediately". Trying to publish an explicitly queer book? You'd never get a contract with major publisher again.

And honestly, as the demographic shown in the book/show (genderweird aroace whose relationships develop slowly because I have a complicated relationship to romance and sex)? I'm pretty miffed that you think my representation is lesser just because two men don't fuck on-screen.
