In addition to the lack of curly/coily hairstyles, the predominance of light skin tones, etc in video games, can we also talk about the fact that, nine times out of ten, if you want to make a character with monolids (a common trait found in every ethnic group to some degree), you're usually stuck finagling eyeshadow?

Does anyone know what's up with places that want to advertise how progressive they are using Buddha heads as decoration?

The latest one I saw was at a Christian church of all places.

The thing about kids is that, as an adult and especially a parent, you have two options: either you listen to and act interested in everything they tell you regardless of how inane you find it, or they won't tell you things.

Kids don't have the same understanding of what is important that you do. Kids don't understand why you think a pat on the shoulder is fine but touching genitals is a big deal. They don't get why you draw a distinction between someone calling them a doodoohead and someone calling them a racial slur. They can't fathom why you brush off a skinned knee but freak out about a snakebite. So if you want to hear about any of the latter? Actually take the former seriously.

Atheist bros have poisoned the well so thoroughly that now when people tell me they're atheist, I, a lifelong atheist myself, grit my teeth and wait for them to start ranting hate about minority religions, People of Color, or women.

Tell me you're a white USian, and a very racist one at that, without telling me.

I don't consider myself to be THAT well-informed, and then I mention things like "most fruit and vegetables are picked by migrant laborers making pennies a day in unsafe conditions" or "disabled people lose their benefits if they get married" and completely blow the minds of (self-declared progressives!!! These are adults who claim to be up to date and educated) around me.

White love interest: I love you so much! (Stalks, belittles, and sexually assaults the protagonist; physically assaults the other [non-white] love interest; goes into a destructive rage when rejected; keeps plot-relevant information secret out of jealous spite.)

Fans: Oh you poor thing, you have never done anything wrong in your life and your love is so pure!

Black love interest: I love you so much! (Acts loving, kind, and respectful; looks at another person for two seconds too long one time.)

Fans: What a disgusting, problematic character. Clearly they don't love the protagonist at all. #cancelled
