🙃 So the urgent care doctor who said "you must go to the ER because You Could Die" was wrong and I just wasted the last eight hours of my life for nothing.
The TV here is playing some western in which horses keep getting shot and blown up, and that's stressing me out more than being in the ER in the first place.
"Characters in fiction sure do get pregnant easily" says person born from a mother who was supposed to be incapable of having a baby after serious abdominal surgery.
"Why are so many people turning to homeopathy/naturopathy?"
It's a $600 bill and a month on the wait-list to get a fifteen minute doctor's appointment, in which the doctor will tell me to lose weight and accuse me of faking my symptoms for drugs.
Meanwhile, homeopathy stores are walk-in, and the employees will spend as much time as you want validating your problems, then send you home with a "remedy".
People aren't falling for quacks because they're stupid, they're falling because they're desperate and the medical system is actively hurting them.
Love the fact that so many studies on health and diet will say "in a meta analysis of fifty studies we found no evidence that this treatment works" and then STILL recommend said treatment.
A "fun" thing about my doctor is that she'll tell me to eat more red meat for the anemia, then five minutes later tell me to eat less red meat for the cholesterol.
I have repeatedly reminded her, in vain, that I'm a vegetarian.
Referral for ADHD testing made in mid-March. I called the neuropsych people that week and they said they'd get back to me. Eventually.
I called them again in early October because my referral was about to expire. They said they'd get back to me that week.
I just called AGAIN and got voicemail. My referral has officially expired. No appointment in sight.
This is the most trouble I've had getting a doctor's appointment in my life. The fact that it's the NEUROPSYCH OFFICE and I'm supposed to get tested for Can't Remember Things or Focus Disorder is. SURE SOMETHING.
My occupational therapist left the practice and my authorization for OT expired anyway and now if I want to resume treatment for my hands after a four month break thanks to losing my health insurance I have to go through the whole process from the start.
But the US medical system is the best in the world, y'all! /s
