This is just not a problem I have in my home country

My observation, from having lived in this hellhole of a failed state for a quarter century, is that the average Yankee is kinda an asshole.

If I make a minor request (like "please stop touching me" or "don't call me by that nickname"), not only will people not accommodate me, they'll go out of their way to do the thing that bothers me. If I express discomfort with something such as loud noises or a certain turn of phrase, they'll make sure to do the thing as often as possible to make me flinch. And don't even get me started on what people will say and do when they learn I'm disabled...

These people will then, almost universally, insist that they are Good People who Care About Others, and yell at me if I disagree on that point.

"It's not about the tablet, it's about how you use it" is something I would like to agree with, in theory.

But when my parents let me loose in the library, and I started picking up random books because they had interesting titles, the odds of me picking up fascist propaganda or pro-ana or similar garbage was low, and my parents saw (and had to approve) every book I got. The odds of a kid left unsupervised with YouTube or social media stumbling onto that stuff is... basically guaranteed, at this point, due to how today's internet is designed.

Parents who let books raise their kids are failing at parenting just as much as parents who let the internet do it, but the consequences in the latter case are so much worse.

So remarkably pissed off with all the people, including the animal welfare organizations, who think "well as long as we neuter them, leaving cats outdoors is fine" because I guess FIV and rabies and coyotes and cars and aggressive dogs and violent people only target unfixed cats, right?

And it's not like they keep hunting! ONLY UNFIXED CATS BRING BIRDS AND LIZARDS TO EXTINCTION!
