Due to my family history, I have complicated feelings about having my race classified as white, but I recognize that I'm white enough to get at least some white privilege.

But this idea that I should take whiteness and use it to write over my ethnicity? Erase my ancestry and assimilate into a generic Anglo-Saxon soup? That can rot in hell.
