Seriously thinking about the racist implications of the evil races (drow and duergar) having dark skin as a punishment for their ancestors' bad deeds as I slaughter my way through camps of drow/duergar slavers and torturers.

Like, I play video games for the catharsis of beating the crap out of bad guys, but not in like a racist way, y'know?

I'm pretty sure "dark skin is a punishment for ancestral sin" is in the Book of Mormon somewhere.

(It was also in a Jacqueline Carey book once, but I try not to think about her.)

It goes back further than that - plantation owners claimed that blackness was the curse of Canaan and therefore they were justified in enslaving Black people. Mormons just... took it to even more horrific levels.

The implications of *dark skinned* *as a curse* *because their ancestors were awful* people being slaveowners in this game universe is... well. Way racist.
