There's a lot to be said about how the narrative of "personal choice will save the world" is related to US individualism and to queer "it's not a choice" activism and to this trend among leftists that it's okay to exclude someone from your activism and in fact call for their oppression and even death as long as you can claim the thing you hate them for is a choice.

But my thoughts aren't cooperating and I have no sources so that essay is not forthcoming.
