While I'm on the subject, I want to point out that while money is an easily quantifiable measure of How Much More Awful Work Is Now, the majority of the people I've talked to, at multiple dysfunctional jobs and within my union, do not list salary as their top problem.
Abusive bosses, lack of control over their own assignments and schedules, unsafe working conditions, too much work, and insufficient communication about job duties are much more common.
