Do the "piracy is evil and is the primary force behind writers being underpaid" people also have a problem with me, say, borrowing a book from a friend?
There's no sale (just like piracy) and there's not even a record in a local library that someone wanted it (just like piracy) so materially it's the same thing, right?
Or what about buying used books on eBay rather than via bookstore - money is exchanged, but none of it makes it to the author or publisher?
