Do I have an unreasonably rosy view of the 00's internet, or did gaming spaces really become more argumentative and aggressive?

might also be a "gaming spaces i was in before vs gaming spaces i'm in now" thing as well, to some degree or another

(but broadly i think gaming spaces have always been pretty aggressive; i was reading up on ultima online the other day and that's a pretty shining example of an aggressive, somewhat hostile gaming space in the early 00s)

Seems likely, yeah; I suspect the forums I hung out at were a lot better moderated than most gaming FB pages and subreddits today.
