At what point is a writer able to look at their own writing and not think that it needs improvement?

Asking for a friend. It's been 25 years.

in my experience: only when their writing is not very good. The minute you're good at it, you start seeing what is and what isn't up to snuff..

very annoying, that. i'd like to go back to having no issues with my writing now LMAO

I don't remember a time when rereading my writing didn't fill me with some (secondhand, weirdly) embarrassment.

I also have this problem when people quote what I said. Maybe I just Cannot Word.
