My parents used to have two large evergreens in their backyard, one to the left of my bedroom window and one to the right.
A bluejay lived in one, a red cardinal in the other. They came back year after year to nest there.
One tree got infected when I was in late high school, the other when I was in early college. They both got cut down.
That was over a decade ago, and the birds are probably long dead by now. But I still think about them sometime.
