Hello, guess who got told that he was totally wrong about his own brain nightmares?

What is it about mental illness that makes people declare, to the faces of mentally ill people, that it's 100% genetic and that there's no possible way that adversity or a lack of support to deal with said adversity could have contributed in any way?

It is the most bizarre belief and I would like to have a few stern words with whoever is propagating it.

Spoiler: I lived but got brain damage

Abstinence only education for drugs (or DARE, as they called it) meant that the night I seriously overdosed, FORTY PEOPLE saw me lying unconscious and said "yeah, he's fine, whatever" before someone called an ambulance.

The people in charge of the dorm very quickly found some speakers to explain how to take care of your friends who are doing drugs after that night. No one would make eye contact with me during the presentation.

I found a weird skin cream that has both "aloe" and "hypoallergenic" printed in big letters on the front, and as someone who's allergic to aloe, I have some Serious Objections to their labeling.
