Aesthetics I love:
-sparkly high femme
-hunter/jumper or dressage equestrian, minus the crop
-long wavy hair
-colorful suit/shirt/tie combos
-black lipstick and heavy eyeliner
-no one can tell if you're a man or a woman and it makes people uncomfortable
-swooshy skirts
-bell sleeves
-stompy boots, clicky heels, or any other shoes that are not afraid to be heard
-just straight up rainbows everywhere

Harm reduction and stuff like that

Yes, yes, marriage is assimilation and blah blah blah, but I live in the here and now and not some sort of socialist utopian future, and I would like to be able to access my partner's health insurance and keep custody of my kids and not have my parents make my medical decisions, so please don't let the government annul my marriage on the basis of us being a pair of queer weirdos.

Really useful thing!

Things I have done with a needle threader:

• cleaned out tight parts of things I could not take apart
• added to a photo of something as a size comparison
• sliced open cellophane that would not give
• held over my phone screen to hide a triggering image in an article I wanted to read
• set on top of a little statuette like a fancy hat
• buried seeds into an earth pellet
• tried to close an open electric circuit (did not work)
• shimmied open stuck lids/caps
• pretend fenced

Things I have never done with a needle threader:

• threaded an actual freaking needle

This game is delightfully nonsensical

I love how Sims 2 Free Time hobby chance cards all assume that all sims work a stereotypical office job, because you end up with scenarios like "business tycoon gets into an argument about music with boss and is demoted" or "military grunt walks cube to cube talking to coworkers" or "security guard working the 20:00-02:00 shift finds time to take a morning walk during work hours".

Opinion: if I understand the language and have the ability to press buttons, I should be able to set the time on your freaking timekeeping device. I should not have to consult a manual that got tossed out three owners ago in 2001.

I don't think I shared this story: a while ago, my partner DMed a one-shot for some friends, and one of the players tried to talk a gold dragon out of attacking them by saying "I too am a worshiper of Tiamat, we should find a peaceful solution!"

This is basically the D&D equivalent of walking up to a Catholic nun and saying "I worship the devil too" except the nun can breathe fire.

I asked the nearest lifelong NY resident "is Bloomberg the one mayor everyone hates?"

And the response was "WE HATE ALL OF THEM!"

So uh. New York City is not doing so well these days.
