This is bugging me

The Pillars of Eternity ranger class comes with an animal companion: antelope, boar, bear, stag, wolf, or lion. All of them four-legged creatures with nothing even remotely resembling opposable thumbs.

The game has many, many places where you have to climb up the side of a cliff or house. Your animal companion comes with you, even when it would be highly impossible: how could a boar grip onto a rope or rock outcropping?!

Does the class come with a secret Rangéball or something?
