A verbal/written habit I have: "I don't know, just, like" appended to the front of a sentence when I don't want to come across as too forceful/aggressive.

That's where my starting sentences with "I mean" originated from, too.

Exaggerating for comic effect, but... yeah. Being told "you're too vehement" over and over does weird things to your speech patterns.
