My mother decided, around when I was fourteen or so, that I was addicted to the internet. She looked up all sorts of "how to diagnose addiction in your loved ones" worksheets and found creative ways to apply all of the criteria to my behavior.
What's most amazing (and the whole thing was wild from start to finish) is that she managed to treat both "you feel better when you haven't been on the computer all day" and "you feel worse when you haven't been on the computer all day" into symptoms of my supposed addiction.
