Today somebody asked my partner to zoom them, just for him to tell them to open [program].

My partner is a firm believer in "if it can be an email, it should."

I mean, he is 100% right on that. You have no idea how many fucking 10-minute calls I've dealt with that could have been five-line emails that I responded to when I had a spare moment to think. Like NOT WHEN I'M TRYING TO BANDAGE A BIG GAPING WOUND BECAUSE WE'RE ALL CLUMSY IN THIS HOUSE. (Ahem.)

My spouse also sympathizes with the sentiment - everyone at work is all Zoom this, Zoom that, and most of it could be brief group chat conversations in Slack.
