Maybe the real monsters were the rich people we ate along the way.
When we were poor, we frequently got things from family friends, and once we didn't need them anymore, we'd pass them off to someone who did. I literally remember this jacket that someone gave to my oldest cousin, which all seven of us wore, and then we handed it off to someone else once the youngest grew out of it.

And now that my parents have tons of money? They hoard things. Nothing gets given away, unless it's to some charity that will give them a tax writeoff in April. And it's not like my parents don't still have plenty of friends that could use hand-me-down clothes or whatever. It's just... they don't care anymore.

My parents, multimillionaires who go on cruises twice a year and think nothing of buying diamonds and the skins of endangered species, have a grand total of four cat toys in their house for their two cats.

No freaking wonder the poor animals have behavioral issues and keep running away.
I was trying to find a picture of the $900 dress monstrosity someone I knew bought on an online store with a no returns policy (and it didn't fit her because she was optimistic about the sizing), but no one I know saved the pictures and when I go online looking for "yellow silk dress that looks like a bathrobe" all I get is... dresses that look nice that I wouldn't mind wearing, if they fit me and weren't made of silk.
"Queer people are only X% of the population, we shouldn't cater to you."

Hmm, okay, let's take that logic and run with it.

Rich white men are maybe... 1% of the population? Definitely a smaller number than us queers. How about we stop catering to them?

Better yet, how about we eat them?
