I had a sudden memory of an article by a trans person (probably a truscum, in retrospect) that talked about transsexualism.
They acknowledged that "transsexual" was a triggering word to many people, and said that they would be spelling it as "transexual" (one S) to avoid that.
A. If you're triggered by a word, you're going to be triggered by misspellings of it too, so, that's not actually helpful.
B. Congrats, you've just gotten around people's word replacers, now people who made an effort to not be triggered by it will see the word they wanted to block and will be triggered.

There's a tendency, across the political spectrum, to insult people you don't like by using the words you would be hurt by if used against you.

Guess what! If your standard for people is "hasn't said anything problematic ever" or even "hasn't said anything problematic for at least twenty years" then LITERALLY EVERYONE will fail! It's just that some people will fail without you knowing it because they said that shit in private and not on a stage in front of ten thousand people!

If you do enough digging, you will find out that I (le gasp) used "tranny" as a derogatory word in like 2009! Ooooooh, go ahead and cancel my cripplefag retarded bitch ass, why don't you! Run me out of the country, harass my family too while we're at it because how dare they associate with me! There are a number of people online who read my header, see the he and trans up there, and think "aha, I can totally hurt this tranny... by using she pronouns!"
Except, I don't particularly care about pronouns, and I slapped the he up there because I noticed that people take my opinion more seriously if they think I'm a dude.

It's very interesting to pay attention to which language a person polices. Someone who gets mad over the word queer but is fine with dyke and fag is showing some interesting biases. So is someone who yells about the words transgendered and intersexuality but is happy to call people aceys. Or someone who very carefully polices retard and insane but has no problem throwing around freak at everyone they don't like. And the person who claims that special interest or sensory hell are autistic exclusive words.
Anyway, this post is dedicated to the person who was TRYING to bring attention to adultism, but did that by harassing someone who referred to seeing kids "in the wild" (ai, outside with their parents) and managed to derail an entire comment thread.
