[makes a flag for one of my identities]

"Hmmm, it's really good but still missing something."

[types up five sentences of fakedeep symbolism]

"Perfect!"

Flags I can draw correctly: rainbow, intersex, trans, queer chevrons.

Flags I can draw but there's a 50% chance they'll be upside down: bi, pan, aro, ace, genderqueer.

Flags that I'll draw with the stripes in the wrong order: genderfluid, nonbinary, polyamorous.

Flags I cannot picture in my mind's eye: bigender (what are the colors IDEK), leather (HOW MANY STRIPES DARNIT I FORGOT?!)
Let's say that I'm a sadist and I want to design The Worst Flag in the World. What should I include?

I already have gradients, lots of very specific and very similar colors (given in hex and no, you can't substitute a similar one), tiny details, lettering (preferably in cursive), some sort of transparency/hole in the middle, and an oval that's almost but not quite a circle.
I understand that "a bunch of horizontal stripes" is actually pretty boring flag designs, that more than four colors means it's difficult to source things when crafting, and that everything being so bright and color-based makes it inaccessible to people who have colorblindness or sensory issues.

But damn do I love the original, eight-color rainbow flag so much, and I am slowly covering the house in it.
I spent some time with a bunch of pride flags and a colorblindness simulator.

Recognizable to colorblind people: bear, leather, polyamory, intersex.

Not recognizable to at least some colorblind people: all these horizontal stripes pasted together and called a flag. (Pan/ply was the worst. Any sort of color deficiency and they look identical.)

You know what I have literally never seen in any discussion of pride flags?

A discussion on whether colorblind people can tell anything apart from anything.

Even the stuffy white dude who taught me HTML talked about the importance of accommodating colorblind people!
I have seen someone insist "we can't make flags that are anything except a bunch of stripes because the crafters can't make them" and, uh...

As a crafter I'm offended at being underestimated like this.
You think the queer community has a problem with all the flags looking kind of the same? Look up the flag of Indonesia, then the flag of Monaco.
