You know how guys who talk about how Nice! they are not actually nice, and that actually nice dudes don't have to say it?
I think the same pattern holds with most positive traits. Someone who is neat won't have to tell you because you will notice how clean their spaces are. Someone who is intelligent won't have to tell you because you'll be able to hear it in what they say. Someone who is socially skilled won't tell you because you'll notice how easily they respond to social situations. Someone who is good at boundaries won't brag about it because you'll already know that they can set a boundary and enforce it. And so on.
