Got around to listening to the Eurovision songs this year.
-Lots of stuff I'm going to promptly forget (as usual).
-Norway came out with a banger.
-Finland brought straight-up noise (complimentary).
-The fun thing about being Eastern European is that I understand juuuust enough of neighboring countries' languages to understand a few words here and there but not the whole song. THIS IS A SONG ABOUT LOVE, BUT WHAT KIND OF LOVE, I CAN'T SAY.
-I normally HATE the rock/metal songs that make it to ESC, but Germany's Blood and Glitter was really good.
-Pretty sure I've heard France's song in an Artsy French Film (TM) before.

This is how I learned that not every Eurovision venue provides closed captions (translated) on songs the way Yle always does.

To be fair, I'm watching this on Youtube, and many of the contestants did provide closed captioning... I'm just also writing while listening, so I can't see them.
