The speed at which things changed from "cannabis is evil and anyone who is caught even thinking about it will have their life ruined" to "there are billboards for weed delivery every four blocks" gave me whiplash.

Eight years ago when I was a fresh college grad with basically no experience, I got hired at $51K/year at a company located in Cheapotown, population: 50, cost of living: LOL low.

While I'm on the subject, I want to point out that while money is an easily quantifiable measure of How Much More Awful Work Is Now, the majority of the people I've talked to, at multiple dysfunctional jobs and within my union, do not list salary as their top problem.
Abusive bosses, lack of control over their own assignments and schedules, unsafe working conditions, too much work, and insufficient communication about job duties are much more common.
