I know I'm supposed to look at unrequited love arcs in stories and think "oh, the poor thing, loving someone who will never return their feelings" but, maybe I'm being a bit aro here, I mostly roll my eyes and wonder "what the hell is wrong with you, are you REALLY that clueless, don't you have any better use for your emotions?"

Writing a horror just barely within human comprehension? Easy!

Writing a kissing scene? HELL NO.

Great! Gale fell in love with me again! Either this game is bugged or I'm too damn aromantic to function.

I Wanted to Learn Some Magic and I Accidentally Romanced the Wizard: the Story of a Ranger.

...I wish games came with an /r tag for romance dialogue options.

Romancing a companion in games: eugh, no thanks.

Two companions starting a romance: YESSSSS, NOW KIIIIIIISS!
As someone with complex feelings on relationships - platonic, romantic, sexual, familial - that would require a dissertation to properly deal with...

I hate that the same word "love" is used for romantic partnerships, familial relationships, platonic friendships, and favorite objects.

The Greeks were on the right track with the whole philia vs agape vs eros thing.

Not sure if this chapter is giving me "awww, they're so cute" feels or "ewww, romance is gross" ones.
Me: "I want to see these characters kiss!"

Characters: [kiss]

Me, a romance-repulsed aromantic: [hands over eyes] "Ewwwww!"

The aromantic fairy hovering over your shoulder: "do you REALLY need a romance plot in this novel?"
But what does the aromantic community mean when they say "prioritize your friends as much as your partner(s)"? Because all I'm getting from those vague posts is the same old "your queer, neurodivergent butt is Doing Relationships Wrong" and it's kind of exhausting to get that from my own people when I could get it from the general public for like 80% less guilt.

(I mean, I don't have friends, but my partner, unlike me, did not have the "friendship" module of their brain broken in childhood, so they do.)
Being bi and aroace is great, because no matter what my gender is or what my partner's gender is, I don't have to change my labels.
As an aroace who does romance and sex, I feel like the bisexual who has """"straight passing"""" relationships. I mean, yeah, I'm doing the thing society wants me to do, but I'm doing it in a queer way that society disapproves of, and when I go to the community that's supposed to be safe for me I get told that I'm not queer enough to enter, okay, fine, you can enter but you need to prostate yourself all the time and remember that you're beneath us.
It bugs me more than it should that the asexual and aromantic flags don't match. There's no reason that they should, but my asexuality and aromanticism (and aplatonicness) are all tightly linked so I want the flags to match.
