Unfortunately Not a Real Pony

I'm hearing straight people (yes, I can tell they're straight based on the way they're talking about queers) talking about going to Pride the way my mother talks about going to the zoo or aquarium.

And Respectability Crusader Queers would rather have these people at our marches than someone in a pup mask?

"But what if a STRAIGHT PERSON pretends to be [ace/aro/bi/pan] to get into the community" really does rely on the idea that straight people ruin everything they touch, huh.

Honestly, with the way the queer community treats allies (some of whom are straight, many who are queer people slowly working up to coming out) for the tiniest little things...

-writing transpeople as one word
-not knowing exact details of every historically queer event
-having said something bigoted 20+ years ago

...all of which I see from openly queer people all the time, by the way...

It just occurred to me that "if you compare how Slavs/disabled folks/queer people/etc suffered in the Holocaust to how Jewish (and maybe Romani) people suffered you're a horrible antisemite" and "if you compare m-spec/a-spec suffering to gay/lesbian suffering you're a horrible homophobe" are basically the same thing, just with a find and replace for a few words.

It's gaslighting people about their own history, among other things.

Wake me up when Good Omens "discourse" is over and I can go on my favorite spots on the internet again without being bombarded with the implication that me using he pronouns and presenting butch sometimes, and using she pronouns and presenting femme other times, makes me any less genderqueer, and that, building on that, my relationship is either straight or gay depending on whether I shaved that day.

An awful number of people have decided that "homophobia" means "a pericis allo gay person didn't get everything they wanted exactly when they wanted" and... huh... where have I heard this before?

Oh, right. "Making a straight person bake a cake for a same-sex couple is HETEROPHOBIA!"
