I utterly hate the fact that I'm expected to look at my life, split out the "this bad thing happened to me because I'm queer" from the "this bad thing happened to me because I'm disabled", and both from the "this bad thing happened to me because I'm in an awkward racial spot" and present three (or more) separate narratives that have nothing to do with each other.
Queer people pointing to my country and saying "look at that place, they oppress queers so much there, not like us over here in the West" are repeating a centuries-old heap of bullshit.

"But a queer person can't walk down the streets of your hometown without risking death!" Buddy, a visibly queer person of color can't walk down the streets of most US cities without risking death (by cop instead of civilian, which I think is even worse). The only reason you're talking about my country being worse is because many of our victims are white.
I have never seen a birth certificate, not even from places that claim to be queer-friendly, that had options other than "father" and "mother".
